Not because we're being cagey, but because "website" can mean a five-page brochure site or a booking platform that quietly runs an entire business. Same word, very different work.
So rather than a number that would be wrong the moment we said it, here's how pricing actually works in 2026: the honest ranges, what moves them, and where your money makes a real difference.
Why two "websites" can cost 10x apart
Price tracks scope, not page count. Three things move the number more than anything else:
- Custom vs. templated. A themed template you fill in is cheap and fast. A design built around your brand and conversion goals takes more time — and usually earns it back.
- What it has to do. A site that displays information costs far less than one that takes bookings, processes payments, syncs to your CRM, or logs people in.
- Integrations. Every system you connect — payments, inventory, email, accounting — adds work. One or two is routine. A dozen is a project.
Once you see those levers, the ranges below make a lot more sense.
The honest ranges
These are real-world starting points for quality, custom work in 2026. Cheaper exists; so does far more expensive. Treat them as a map, not a quote.
Marketing websites. Where you land depends on product count, custom checkout needs, and the platforms you sell through. E-commerce builds are scoped around exactly that.
Web apps & SaaS. Dashboards, customer portals, internal tools, and software products are a different category. They involve accounts, data, permissions, and logic — so they're quoted by scope and usually start in the five figures and climb with complexity. If you're building a web app or platform, the honest answer is "let's scope it," because a realistic number depends entirely on what it has to do.
Mobile apps. A native or cross-platform mobile app for iOS and Android sits alongside web apps in cost, driven by features, backend needs, and how much of the experience is custom. App-store requirements and ongoing updates are part of the real cost, not an afterthought.
What actually drives the number
If you want to understand a quote — or compare two — look at these, not the bottom line:
- Design depth. Off-the-shelf vs. crafted-for-you.
- Functionality. Static content vs. things that do work.
- Content. Who writes the copy, shoots the photos, builds the pages?
- Integrations. Each connected system is real engineering.
- Timeline. Rushed work costs more, everywhere.
- After launch. Hosting, updates, support, and changes are ongoing — budget for them up front.
Where you can save, and where you shouldn't
You can save by starting focused: launch a strong, smaller site now and grow it later. You can save by writing your own first-draft copy, or reusing a proven layout instead of inventing one.
Where cutting corners costs you later: performance and SEO (a slow, unfound site is invisible), mobile experience (most of your visitors are on phones), and clean foundations (a cheap build glued together is expensive to fix and even more expensive to replace).
"Cheap now" is often "expensive later"

A site that can't be edited without a developer, that breaks under real traffic, or that has to be rebuilt in a year isn't a bargain — it's a deferred bill.
